Compared to the proliferation of Clara’s landscape paintings, her portraits are considerably less in number. Recently Cindy MacCool of MacCool’s Re-use in Picton, Ontario contacted me including these photos.

Hi there. Would you be able to confirm whether this is by your Clara Harris and approximate value? I bought this at a Belleville auction from the estate of an avid picker/collector. There were around 1000 paintings at this auction and this was the estate’s 4th and final.

Wow, what a surprise! The woman’s countenance is so severe. Who was she? A relative of Clara’s? A model posing for Clara? A woman in mourning? When was it painted? Who was the original owner?

Considering the low percentage of portraits compared to landscapes how much would you pay for it? I’d love to get your feedback. You can send your ideas to me or Cindy MacCool (www.maccoolsreuse.com) or better still, both of us.
