PORTRAITS

Considering that Clara studied under reputable portrait painter Archibald Barnes, she painted very few portraits. If you manage to find a portrait done by Clara keep it.  Here are the five that I have.  Her self-portrait is the most significant.  “Clara Perry” was completed at the Port Hope Summer Art School under John W. Beatty’s direction.

Clara Harris’ Interpretations of People

Four portraits, real people, real expressions. Only one of these portraits is identified: the artist as a young woman. Who was the old man, the woman in blue and the blonde children? Clara Harris’ realism yet impressionist style fosters curiosity in the viewer.
